November - A Thankful Month in California
During November we made our way down the California Coast. This month seemed to focus on fun (a bit of extravagance). Ava Skye has done so well being isolated in nature with just Dave and I, it seemed like time to take a break, be social and play a bit more.
As we worked our way down to Los Angeles, we visited 3 different Harvest Hosts. The first was the Mayo Family Winery near Sonoma California, the 2nd was a working ranch, Pacinies Ranch, and the 3rd an Olive Oil Mill. I always enjoy our stays at different Harvest Hosts, so much to experience and learn.
We landed in the Santa Clarita Valley for a few weeks, giving me time to remember my time living in that area while I was in High School (it sure has changed). I feel like we did so much in those two weeks! We were fortunate to be able to enjoy all the places we did. We went to Disney Land (I loved the new Star Wars section), Magic Mountain, Le Brea Tar Pits and the Santa Monica pier to name a few.
Then, we made our way down to San Diego towards the end of the month. While in San Diego we were able to take a day trip to Tijuana, visit a couple museums and learn about the local history while on a walking tour. The highlight of San Diego was getting to visit Auntie Anne and Leona. They flew in from Colorado and spent a week with us. We went to the San Diego Zoo, Sea World and Oceanside beach. It was wonderful to be able to enjoy Thanksgiving with them! Perhaps Thanksgiving in San Diego will be our new family tradition.
We played a lot this month, at times it seemed a bit excessive to me. I realize we are very fortunate! I feel truly blessed to be able to enjoy all that we did. I am thankful I have the time, the financial means, and a loving, healthy family to share adventures with.
